Children are very welcome in Lilac Cottage and a high chair and travel cot (please bring own mattress and bedding) are available free of charge - please ask at time of booking. The pretty cottage garden is enclosed and has a flat grassy lawn perfect for our smaller guests.

There are lots of great days out in the area, including the Chestnut Wildlife Centre in Chapel-en-le-Frith, Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom, both in Matlock Bath, as well as the American Adventure and Alton Towers theme parks within easy reach. The farmyard and adventure playground at Chatsworth are always popular and on a sunny day, it's hard to beat a bike ride along the Tissington Trail with an ice cream or cream tea to finish!

As well as a really good range of games, books and DVDs for any wet days, there's also Speedwell Caverns in Buxton, Matlock Bath Aquarium and Hologram Gallery and numerous swimming pools and leisure centres which run children's activities in school holidays.
