We spent a week in the Peak District and had a really good time. Lilac Cottage is in a very good location in a pretty village. The property itself was very clean and well decorated. Our family of six (including three teenagers) thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We found the cottage very comfortable with good beds (very important to us), lounge seating and equipment excellent. Heating worked really well which proved necessary at 11 deg in daytime one day. Very good bathroom but it is the only one and includes the only toilet. The table and chairs in the kitchen made it small so we removed the chairs to the end room. We think it would be better to have the dining room in the centre and have the end room as a lounge and remove the table from the kitchen. The location is very quiet and very convenient for the many attractions. The hosts acted immediately to any requirement and were very helpful. The property was very well equipped and clean.

We had a lovely stay at this well-appointed cottage in a friendly village in the heart of the Peak District. The location was great- easy to get around to Buxton, Bakewell and also further north to Castleton and further. We particularly enjoyed the pub and the playground in the village of Chelmorton - making for an easy, relaxing holiday!

The cottage itself is beautifully decorated with a lovely sense of character. It's child-friendly, but also perfect for adults too. The kitchen was well-stocked with lots of pots, utensils etc, and the choice of games and DVDs was impressive. The owner was very efficient and provided us with lots of helpful information about the local area, both in advance and at the cottage itself.

I'd highly recommend this cottage - we had a great stay.

My wife and I stayed here at the end of May and we were very pleaseantly surprised. The cottage is spacious, very nicely decorated and also very well equiped for rainy days. The village pub (The Church Inn) is short walk up the road and is very welcoming and serves excellent food and beer. I'd strongly recommend this cottage if you're looking to stay near Buxton.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lilac Cottage. The cottage is well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The welcome hamper is a lovely addition and much appreciated after a long journey. Chelmorton is a peaceful traditional village and ideal for relaxing and using as a base for exploring the beautiful Peak District National Park. We were spoilt with the weather despite visiting in March and spent every day walking the local countryside. The information provided in the cottage for walking and other more touristy attractions was first class. We can not recommend Lilac Cottage enough and certainly plan to return very shortly.

First visit to the area was made all the more pleasurable by staying in such a well equipped & cosy cottage. Coal fires on a February evening were perfect after a day out.

We have just stayed in this most lovely cottage and cannot recommended it highly enough. The owners have gone out of their way to make this cottage a home from home, it has such a welcoming feeling and the goodies you are greeted with on arrival is well appreciated. The village is in a good location for visiting the surrounding areas. The owners have equipped the cottage with everything you could think of, so much information on the Peak District, books, games, DVDs just incase of those rainy days. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending Lilac Cottage for your visit to the Peak District.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it was fantastic. Had everything that we needed which was great. A wonderful welcome basket of goodies on arrival which was a really lovely treat! Location was fantastic, not far to anywhere! The layout of the cottage was great, very clean and presented brilliantly. All of the bedrooms were of good size and were all lovely and cosy. It was a real home from home! Great to have the garden for little ones to play in. Owners were very helpful and we had good communication before and during the holiday, nothing was any trouble. We would definately recommend this property to all.....and we will be coming back.

The only thing that I would say is that if you have little ones you just need to keep an eye out on the radiator pipes as they are exposed and can easily be grabbed by early crawlers/walkers etc. They wouldn't put me off coming here at all with small ones, but as a parent I would prefer someone to warn me about it rather than find out the hard way. Our little man is 14 months and he wasn't tempted by them at all. DO NOT LET THIS PUT YOU OFF THE PROPERTY, it just means you have to be aware of where your little ones are and what they are up to!

This is a lovely, light and airy cottage in an excellent location for anyone wanting to visit the Peak District and surrounding areas. The owners have thought of virtually everything you could want and the cottage is furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The welcome basket is also a very nice touch for anyone arriving late without having had time to pick up provisions.

The cottage has a small but sunny garden, ideal for a barbeque on a summer's evening. It is not the most private of places as it's at the front of the cottage but with the village being such a quiet place you shouldn't find this a problem.

Chelmorton is a small and quiet village with a good and friendly pub less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage. There is also a small but well kept children's playground at the nearby church for those in need of something to entertain young children.

We would highly recommend this a place to stay for anyone wanting a relaxing and comfortable stay in the Peak District.

Cottage is exactly as described - charming, comfortable, well equipped and very well located for sightseeing and walking. Located in a small village but within easy reach of Buxton with full amenities. Village pub excellent. Peak District weather can be variable but there is an excellent & up to date DVD and book library - we found it quite hard to move our teenagers outside!
